Bachelorette Katie Thurston has been very open with fans about her breast cancer diagnosis. She’s shared everything from how she discovered it to all the testing she’s had to endure over the past few weeks. Along with that, she’s been sharing all about her treatment plan and her move to New York City to be with her fiance Jeff Arcuri. Now, in a new post, Katie is talking about how she’s felt mentally being diagnosed with this horrible disease. She actually said cancer picked the right person. Why would she say this? Katie Thurston Says Cancer Picked The Right Person, Why?
Bachelorette Katie Thurston has been sharing her breast cancer journey with fans. She revealed the diagnosis just a few weeks ago. Since then, she has continued to spread awareness and share her fight with all her followers.
Along with talking about how she discovered it and the tests she has been through, Katie is also sharing her treatment plan. Since she needs to get things rolling right away she quickly got her insurance activated in New York and moved this weekend to be with Jeff Arcuri.
Her loving fiance canceled his world comedy tour to be by her side through treatment. She shared that she will be forever grateful to him for putting her first and giving his full support.
Katie also answered fan questions recently on Instagram. She had tons of questions and one was how she is mentally handling her cancer diagnosis. They asked how it felt knowing it was in her body. She had a lot to say about it and her response may shock some of her fans.
First, Katie said that it’s a lot to handle but so far it’s been “test after test after poke after poke.” She went on to say that she will begin chemotherapy in New York right after she freezes her eggs. Katie also said, “Cancer is now my full time job. How rude.”
Along with all that though, Katie shared more that is rather shocking but also shows her incredible courage and strength.
Katie said that anyone who knows her personally can agree that cancer picked the wrong person to mess with. She went on to say, “But also I, in a weird way, feel like the right person to have it.” She went on to explain that she has an audience of women that she can inform and ultimately save lives. Katie concluded saying it’s that mentality that has really helped her the most.
What Are Her Next Steps?
Katie Thurston has also shared that her next step will be going through two weeks of fertility treatments. She and Jeff have opted to have embryos frozen. Once this process is complete, she will begin chemotherapy.
Right now, she previously shared that the plan is after chemo she will then have the mastectomy. Katie has yet to reveal if she will have a double or single breast removal.
Many fans have asked her what stage her breast cancer is. She shared that she is still waiting for those results but that they believe it to be most likely stage 3.
The other new piece of information she shared is that her cancer is triple positive meaning it’s more susceptible to the treatment giving her a better chance at beating it.
No doubt Katie is in for a fight but she has tons of support including friends, family, Jeff and all her loving fans.
