Bachelorette Katie Thurston Tearfully Shared She’s Not Having Chemo Friday
Former Bachelorette Katie Thurston went to Instagram Stories to tearfully reveal that her planned first session of chemotherapy is not happening. She was set to begin the first of six rounds of chemo to treat her stage 4 breast cancer. However, while packing a bag to get ready for tomorrow, she received a phone call that changed everything.
In Katie’s Instagram Story, she shared that while packing everything she needed for chemo Friday she got a message from her doctor to not go to the appointment. She shared that she didn’t want to reveal too much until she knows more tomorrow.
Katie will go see her doctor instead of going to chemo and she has a lot of questions. She went on to say that she wants to feel like not having to go to chemo is a good thing but she doesn’t know what to think. It’s frustrating to go to test after test and doctor after doctor and feel whiplash from the different information.
She concluded her video by saying that the biggest takeaway from this is to always get a second opinion.
Katie followed up her video with another post to clarify her first one. She said, “To clarify, this could be good news. It sounds like it is. But it’s a mind f*ck to have ongoing conflicting information from different doctors that alters the route of your treatment and your life.”
Katie has been sharing everything with her fans about her cancer diagnosis. She’s shared the good and the bad and has always been upfront with everyone. Now, everyone is eager to hear if this is truly good news for the former Bachelorette.
What Else Has Katie Shared Today?
Bachelorette Katie Thurston has also shared on her “Boobie Broadcast” questions about other followers who may have hormone receptor-positive, HERS2-negative breast cancer. She also asked if after being diagnosed with that form of cancer if they avoided chemotherapy.
Katie went on to share in a separate post that she will follow up with her lead oncologist at Columbia. She said, “If she says no chemo, then no chemo and vice versa. I always thought cancer=chemo but I’m learning it’s a very customized situation based on multiple factors.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, HER2-negative status means cancer cells have no or low amounts of HER2 proteins, making them less aggressive.
Fans will have to wait for more details from Katie to see if this applies to her or not. No doubt she will be sharing everything with fans after her doctor’s appointment on Friday.
