Bachelorette Katie Thurston Shares How She’s Feeling After Starting Treatment
Bachelorette Katie Thurston went to her Boobie Broadcast to share another update with fans on her breast cancer fight. After finally getting confirmation that she has HER2- cancer, she will be taking a combination of three different medications.
Yesterday, she shared what exactly they will be treating her with. She said she would be taking “Letrozole + Kisqali + Zoladex as my first line of treatment.” She went on to say, “This is a custom plan based on being [/] having HER2-negative, Luminal B, hormone-positive breast cancer. Letrozole to block estrogen, Kisqali to stop cancer cells from growing, and Zoladex to shut down my ovaries.”

Now, she has started all but one of those medications. Katie will begin the Kisqali on Friday. So far she revealed being cold and tired on Thursday even though she’s having hot flashes at night. Katie said,
“I sometimes look at myself in the mirror and wonder about my appearance. Is this cancer? Is this 34? Is this stress? Probably just all of it.”
Katie went on to say that now every symptom she has she questions whether or not it’s cancer or just life. She took a nap hoping to get a second wind to get through the day. It never came. She said she was a “sleepy girl” before the meds and now finds out they will cause her more fatigue.
Overall, Katie is hoping it’s a temporary side effect and that once the initial start of the treatment is over things will return to normal.
Tomorrow she will begin the final medication of her three-med cocktail. She said then she would be “officially locked and loaded.”
Looking Toward The Future
Bachelorette Katie Thurston shared even more in her latest update. She shared a look into the future. First, on Monday, she will have the port removed that she had put in for chemotherapy. Next, Katie revealed that she is pretty sure she will be able to go to Italy with her new husband Jeff Arcuri next month. She has never been so it gives her something to look forward to.
Katie has also shared that even though stage 4 cancer sounds scary, it is not a death sentence. She refuses to ever have that mindset and will continue to fight it.
In doing so, she is looking toward the future. She and Jeff hope to have an official wedding down the road and also start a family.
They froze embryos before her treatment began so they would be able to have a chance for children in the future.
