Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner Shares Cancer Update With Fans
Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner revealed last December that he has a form of incurable bone marrow cancer. He found out about the disease in February 2024. He alluded that perhaps this contributed to his divorce from Theresa Nist.
Now, Gerry revealed he’s dating someone new and had an almost instant connection with her. Having cancer has made Turner more open with his emotions. Plus, he’s determined to live life to the fullest.
He sat down with Serena Pitt and Joe Amabile on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, where he gave fans an update on how he’s doing health-wise. How long does Gerry have to live? He feels he has at least a few more years left in him. He said,
“I feel great. Until I have any symptoms, there’s no treatment. So I go frequently for blood tests. I’m on, like, a six-month schedule now, and I feel optimistic because the doctor has said, ‘Well, when you turn 75, we’re going to have to go three-month increments.’ So it’s telling me that at least he expects me to live another couple of years to get to that. But the bottom line is I feel really good.”
In A Way, Cancer Has Been A Good Thing For Gerry Turner
During the interview, Pitt asked Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner if he was frustrated at all by having to wait until he had symptoms to do any form of treatment. Gerry said that, in a lot of ways, finding out he has cancer has been a good thing.
He never turns down opportunities and experiences. Turner feels like he is really living like he’s dying. One never knows how much time they have left, so he’s trying to pack in all the memorable moments while he still can.
Gerry still has a lot of living to do and so he’s taking advantage of every experience that comes his way. He’s optimistic he still has plenty of time to do the things he wants to do.
Gerry previously said that when he’s gone, he’s gone, but in the meantime, he’s going to be intentional with everything he does. He says he will have no regrets when it’s his time.
The Golden Bachelor Is Dating Again
Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner also dropped a bombshell that he is dating again following his divorce from Theresa Nist. He and Theresa divorced last April after only three months of marriage.
The couple married very quickly in a televised wedding following the season finale of the show. Once he was diagnosed with cancer, his focus became his family.
Theresa has been in touch with Gerry and he informed her he’s dating again.
