Fans First Got To Meet Katie Thurston On Season 25 Of The Bachelor
Many fans got to know Thurston through the Bachelor franchise. She first appeared as a contestant during Season 25 of The Bachelor.
Thurston would later star in season 17 of The Bachelorette. The season concluded with her accepting a proposal from Blake Moynes in 2021. However, the engagement ended later that year. Thurston then started a relationship with John Hersey, who was eliminated during Week 2. However, they broke up the following year. In 2025, she married comedian Jeff Arcuri.

Back in February, Thurston shared that she had been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. According to People, Thurston is set to appear on Uncomfortable Conversations with Emmanuel Acho, where she opened up about her diagnosis.
Speaking with Acho, the Bachelorette star shared what was the hardest thing for her, as well as what is helping her get through this tough time. As she admitted, “I think being alone is the hardest, if I had to pick something. And that’s why I’m so thankful just to have this online community.”
The Bachelor alum explained how this helps her get through her lonely days. As she explained, “[Husband Jeff Arcuri] travels a lot for work, so he’s actually gone for the next couple days. And soon this summer he’ll be gone internationally.” She also shared that she “can’t imagine how people do this alone.”

“It’s one thing to hear support from you — and it’s so great and I am appreciative. But to hear from another cancer survivor like ‘I was on that exact regimen 15 years ago,’ that gives me the biggest hope at the end of the day.”
During the conversation, Acho asked if hope is something she needs at this time. Thurston agreed, admitting, “I think you have to have a reason to live. I think you have to have something that makes you want to see tomorrow.” She continued, “And I think without hope, you don’t have that opportunity.”

Earlier this month, the Bachelor alum took to Instagram to explain that she would be receiving hormone-blocking therapy instead of chemotherapy. At the time, she noted, “The current approach that we’re taking is going to give me the best chance at long-term control with less side effects.”
However, Thurston acknowledged that she could still need chemotherapy in the future. She explained, “If this treatment stops working or if the cancer grows again, it’s an option we’ll revisit. We will closely monitor the treatment plan and make sure it’s working for my body.”
